Even better, your job in planning the itinerary becomes much easier when you choose Coronado, because we’ve got your complete guide to hosting your training camp here. Read on to start planning your trip today.

Hotels

Our budget-friendly hotel partners offer deals specifically to accommodate your team! Many of them allow up to 4-5 swimmers per room, and all are within walking distance to BBMAC. Some even have full kitchens and other perks like continental breakfast. No matter where you stay, you’ll have easy access to BBMAC and everything Coronado has to offer.

Getting Here

Coronado is less than 10 miles from San Diego International Airport. Cab rides cost about $30, but you’ll probably want to arrange for a shuttle or van service. Super Shuttle is a well-known nationwide company serving San Diego, and Airport Van Rental is another with quite a few different options for different sized vans. Here’s a full list of rental car companies in or near the airport. Keep in mind that you probably won’t be using a car much (if at all) once you get to Coronado, so no need to overspend on anything fancy.

Flagship Cruises & Events operates a regular ferry between downtown San Diego and Coronado Ferry Landing. It’s a quick and cheap cab ride from the airport to the San Diego departure locations at Broadway Pier and the Convention Center, and for $4.75 per person, the boat ride itself is absolutely awesome. We’re less than a mile from where you’ll be dropped off.

Getting Around

You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to get around Coronado once you’re here. You can easily spend your entire time on the island without ever getting in a car. Walking is the best way to get from BBMAC to most restaurants, hotels, shops and beaches. Being that this is a training camp, after all, you can easily turn some of the longer walks into team jogs.

There are nearly a dozen bike rental shops conveniently located throughout the Downtown and Ferry Landing areas, and MTS Bus 904 runs up and down Orange Avenue.

Groceries and Necessities

Located about 7 blocks from our complex, Boney’s Bayside Market offers fresh groceries, weekly specials and a memorable deli. Or, you can head the other way on Orange Avenue for Vons. Orange Avenue will have everything you need in terms of necessities, from Walgreens and CVS to an array of coffee shops and small convenience stores.

Attractions

Coronado is an island-wide attraction everywhere you look. On rest days, you’ll obviously want to spend some time enjoying pristine Coronado Beach, which is a perennial best-in-the-U.S. contender. Glorietta Beach is another popular spot, as is the beach at Ferry Landing.

Speaking of Ferry Landing, shopping is a must while staying on Coronado. Your four main shopping destinations are Downtown, El Cordova Plaza, Ferry Landing and Hotel del Coronado. Each offers its own unique experience, and best of all, each is within walking distance of BBMAC.

Don’t forget, you also have the entire city of San Diego just a short bus or ferry ride away.

Training

Ah, the reason you’re here: training camp. It was starting to sound more like a vacation there, wasn’t it?

As if you’re not already convinced that Coronado is your training camp paradise, BBMAC is a state-of-the-art, Olympic-class facility that will have your swimmers wanting to spend more time in the pool than anywhere else on the island. The main pool lends itself to both long course (8 lanes of 50 meters) and short course (19 lanes of 25 meters) swimming, and another smaller pool adds up to 6 additional lanes. We offer flexible packages based on your needs. Rent for a few days, or a few weeks. Rent a few lanes, or reserve the entire complex.

For cross training, enjoy complimentary access to the Coronado High School weight room and track-and-field facilities. You can also take full advantage of the weather with a variety of other activities out and about on the island, including kayaking, standup paddleboarding, biking and beach workouts.

Coronado is the perfect location for your team to train, recover, bond and work toward your collective goal of being the best. Ready to book your next training camp at BBMAC? Give us a ring to ask about availability and package rates.
